Madrid to Seville Train: Tickets, Prices & Travel Tips

Destination illustration: Seville. This image does not show the departure or arrival station.
The Madrid to Seville train links Madrid Puerta de Atocha–Almudena Grandes with Sevilla Santa Justa. Renfe, iryo and OUIGO serve the corridor. Choose your departure by its actual arrival time and conditions, especially if you have timed attraction tickets or plan to continue elsewhere in Andalucía.
Madrid to Seville or Madrid–Córdoba–Seville?
Choose whether Córdoba is a station stop or a destination before comparing tickets. To spend time there, search Madrid to Córdoba and Córdoba to Seville as separate journeys or use an itinerary that explicitly allows the stop. Compare the combined cost and arrival time with a direct Madrid to Seville train.
For a Seville to Madrid return, check the departure from Sevilla Santa Justa and the named Madrid arrival station on the dated result. A day-trip plan needs usable time in Seville after the city transfer, not just a fast outbound train. For an overnight visit, match the arrival to your accommodation and compare refund or change conditions if plans remain open.
Direct trains and a stop in Córdoba
A direct Madrid–Seville train can make intermediate stops without requiring you to change trains. Check the selected service’s stops and duration rather than treating “direct” as “non-stop”. Do not rely on a single headline journey time: the timetable and operating conditions determine the arrival time for your date.
Córdoba is a useful separate visit on an Andalucía itinerary, but a train stopping there does not turn a through ticket into a flexible sightseeing pass. If you want several hours in Córdoba, search Madrid–Córdoba and Córdoba–Seville as separate legs. Check both departures before paying and leave enough time to return from the historic centre, collect any stored luggage and board.
Atocha departure and Santa Justa arrival
Before leaving Madrid
Plan your transfer to Atocha using the full station name on your ticket. Madrid Chamartín is a separate station; arriving there from another route requires another transfer. For an airport arrival, include time for baggage collection, travel to Atocha, security checks and the operator’s boarding deadline. Do not assume separately booked travel has connection protection.
After arriving in Seville
Santa Justa is not in the pedestrian streets around the Cathedral and Alcázar. Plan the onward journey to your accommodation by city bus, taxi or an appropriate walking route. The station does not have a direct Metro stop; check the actual local transport route rather than expecting a Metro entrance inside the station. Heat and luggage can make a walk less practical than it appears on a map.
Fare comparison for a city break
Compare Renfe, iryo and OUIGO for the same date and passenger details. A cheaper base fare can change after baggage, seat selection or booking fees. Read each fare’s change and cancellation terms; a product described as flexible may still involve a fare difference or specific deadlines.
- Weekend visit: compare the outward and return legs together, including the time needed to reach Santa Justa after your final activity.
- Event or festival: check availability for your actual dates and avoid treating an advertised promotional price as an available fare.
- More Andalucía stops: search the next city pair independently. A map showing Seville, Córdoba and Málaga does not mean every departure visits all three.
Keep attraction reservations flexible until the train is issued and its timing fits your plan. On departure day, check service notices and the station boards using your train number, and follow the operator’s instructions for security and boarding. Search Madrid to Seville trains to compare the options supplied for your date.
Booking through SpanishTrain
SpanishTrain, operated by WISE UP LIMITED, is an independent booking intermediary, not a railway operator or an authorised agent of the operators. Search results depend on supplier availability and may not include every operator or departure. The current service accepts adults aged 18 or over, with a maximum of four passengers per booking.
- Search your date and check both station names, the operator, stops and arrival time.
- Review the total price, baggage allowance and change or cancellation conditions before paying. Enter passenger details exactly as required for their travel documents.
- After payment, the request is reviewed and fulfilled manually. Payment is not an issued ticket, and no fixed ticket delivery time is guaranteed.
- Once the official operator e-ticket arrives by email, check the journey, passenger details, coach and seat. Keep it available for boarding with the required identification. If it has not arrived, contact support; a payment receipt is not valid for travel.
